I took a little trip across town to this beautiful farm, Woodpecker Trail Olive Tree Farm. I had read in the Diverse Power magazine about it and since it was in Glennville, I set off in search for it. I put in in my GPS and it was easy enough to find. Tracy, one of the owners was mowing grass when I pulled up and asked if I was at the right place, yes i was. She said she wasn’t open for tours, I told her I just wanted to buy some olive oil. We got to talking and this sweet lady took me on a tour of her farm! She has so many olive trees! This GA girl had never seen an olive tree and they are a beautiful tree! I asked if deer liked them and no they do not! Wow you would think more people would grow them but they take 5 yrs to bare fruit! I don’t have the patience for that! I finally got to see a live alligator even if he wanted to be shy. Tracy is also growing lavender and it was pretty to see them in rows. Tracy and I spent about an hour together talking, I found out she is from Glennville and her family has farmed on this land for over a 100 yrs. I also found out her husband is from Ohio, about 20 min from where my husband grew up. Please check out her FB page https://www.facebook.com/pg/woodpecktrailolivefarm and buy some of this GA Grown olive oil.
